Beware Tuesday 25 August! You can have your 'Moving Day' in golf but Tuesday 25 August is “D” for Decision Day in the Kildare LGFA Championships. Round 3 of the 2026 championships take place this (Tuesday) evening with places in the Quarter Finals and Semi Finals to be claimed and Relegation Playoffs to be avoided.

The top positions in Group A and Group B of the Joe Mallon Motors SFC look to be secured by Division 1 League Champions, Sarsfields and last year’s beaten finalists, Eadestown respectively. The Sash had a mildly surprising victory over defending champions, St Laurence’s on Tuesday evening last to give them two victories from two and they sit on top of Group A with six points.

The Larries looked to be in control when they led 1-8 to 1-4 at half time and increased that lead to five early in the second half. However, the defending champions then went some nineteen minutes without a score while Sarsfields scored two goals in the space of four minutes to turn the game in their favour.

The Healy sisters, Freya and Erin were instrumental in this turnaround and Erin ensured the victory with a goal on the stroke of full time. Sarsfields will now face Kilcullen in Round 3, a Kilcullen side that bounced back from the Round 1 defeat to Larries to claim victory over Maynooth, who had only lost by two points to the Sash in Round 1.

This will be no easy task for Sarsfields although the Division 1 League winners are carrying a bit of momentum at the moment. Although they are missing key players the aforementioned Healys, the returning Ciara Price and the versatile Aisling Irhue should give Sash the edge over a Kilcullen side which will be driven by Nanci Murphy and dangerous forwards, Jayne Peacocke and Caoimhe Egan. Defending champions, St Laurence’s get the vote over Maynooth to claim second spot from Kilcullen.

In Group B Kill and Balyna are fighting for the second spot as after two wins, Eadestown seem to have the semi-final spot sewn up. Eadestown should make it three from three when they host Balyna giving Laoise Lenehan led Kill the opportunity to take second spot with a victory over Suncroft who sit on the bottom of the Group with no points.

In the Joe Mallon Motors IFC Naas look to have secured top spot in Group A with Na Fianna and Leixlip fighting for second spot while in Group B Raheens and Cappagh meet this evening with the winner claiming top spot.

Group A of the Naas Racecourse Junior A Championship sees Athy is pole position to take top spot in Group A while Celbridge will be favourites to claim top spot in a tight Group B.
