Barretstown hosts Winter Wonderland with Santa's Grotto and festive stalls
Santa and helpers at Barretstown
FAMILIES are invited to Barretstown campus in Kildare for its Winter Wonderland festive weekend.
Barretstown, Ireland’s leading provider of psychosocial care for children and young people affected by cancer and other serious illness, is hosting the magical Christmas weekend on Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 November.
Families can soak up the Christmas spirit with a visit to Santa’s Grotto, browse the Christmas market stalls, enjoy festive entertainment and music, seasonal treats and fun activities for all ages, all set against the beautiful surroundings of the Barretstown campus.
Entry and all activities are free, with the exception of Santa’s Grotto, which requires advance booking.
Every grotto visitor will enjoy a hot chocolate and festive treat, while each child will receive a special present from Santa.
To ensure all children can enjoy the experience, dedicated Sensory-Friendly Santa sessions will also be available for neurodivergent children and those with additional sensory needs, offering a calmer experience with reduced sound and lighting and managed crowd sizes.
Tickets for santa’s grotto are priced at €37 for a family ticket (one adult and one child), and €15 per additional adult, €22 per additional child and €12 per additional infant.
Each booking can include up to six people, and spaces are limited so advanced booking is essential.
Every donation and funds raised at Winter Wonderland will support the provision of Barretstown’s residential camps, outreach programmes in hospitals, schools and communities, and cutting-edge research and education.
All of this work addresses what medical treatment alone cannot - rebuilding confidence, restoring independence, and transforming a story of illness into one of possibility for thousands of children and young people each year.
