Frightfully fun Halloween in store for Athy

DUST off your costumes and root out the fake blood – the spooky season is on the horizon in Athy!

Crowds are set to descend on the town on Friday 31 October from 6.30pm for the annual Halloween celebration, a spooktacular evening filled with fun, laughter and excitement for all ages.

This fang-tastic festival promises something for everyone, with highlights including the hugely popular fancy dress parade (with prizes for the best dressed), a contest for locals who want to showcase their petrifying pumpkin carving skills, a spine-tingling laser light show, and plenty of shocking surprises.

Businesses throughout the town are encouraged to get involved in creating a festive atmosphere by decorating their shop windows, with a prize for Best Window Display up for grabs for the ghastliest adornments.

“Athy’s Halloween festival is always a memorable fixture on the local calendar, and a lot of hard work goes in behind the scenes to make it such a huge success,” said cllr Ivan Keatley, cathaoirleach of Athy Municipal District.

“This October, let your imagination run wild and craft a costume that’s spooky, clever, and eco-friendly. We hope local businesses join in the fun too with some ghoulish decorations on their shop windows.

“Mark your calendars – it’s going to be a night you won’t want to miss!” The event is organised by Athy Town Promoters, with the support of volunteers and Athy Municipal District Local Property Tax funding.

Organisers encourage everyone to bring the whole family and enjoy an unforgettable night of festive activities – and best of all, it’s completely free!
