A Kildare musician is set to make his debut at Electric Picnic with a little help from Imelda May.

Tadhg Nolan will take to the Three Music stage at Electric Picnic as part of Three City Stages Collective.

Three’s City Stages Collective made its debut at last year’s festival when a collection of Irish buskers came together to create a showstopping performance.

The Leixlip man will join several other performers to play at Ireland’s biggest festival, Electric Picnic, as the City Stages Collective where they will be joined by a full house band of experienced session musicians.

One of Ireland’s most loved and revered performers Imelda May, alongside Camden Recording Studios MD Cian Boylan, will be working with the acts to create the one-off showcase which will take place on Saturday 17 August at 2pm on the Three Music Stage. May will lend her experience of performing on some of the world’s biggest stages to guide and mentor the group of young musicians ahead of their Electric Picnic performance. The five were introduced to Imelda May at a recent live session in Windmill Lane Recording Studios where they worked on preparing the setlist for the festival.

Ahead of Electric Picnic, Imelda May: said “I’m excited to work with this group of talented young musicians to help prepare them for one of the biggest shows of their life. Three’s City Stages has been an important platform to support and help the next generation of Irish talent progress to the next level of their careers. I have been lucky to have performed all over the world on different stages and nothing compares to the buzz of stepping onto a festival stage so I am delighted to be able to share my own experiences and knowledge and be a part of their journey.” Three’s City Stages initiative has been touring Ireland for over 18 months, providing a platform for Ireland’s busking talent who can be found performing daily across city streets around the country. Over 1,000 musicians have applied to City Stages with a select number having received opportunities to perform on stage at 3Olympia, Electric Picnic and on a European tour with Gavin James.
