West Side Story comes to Newbridge in April

Cast have been working hard in rehearsals

NEWBRIDGE Musical Theatre is to put on one of the most iconic musicals of stage and screen West Side Story next month.

This Easter, Kildare audiences will get the opportunity to experience a spectacular live production of the show, complete with a 12-piece orchestra, as Newbridge Musical Theatre take their production to the stage from Easter Monday to Saturday (6-11 April) in the Newbridge College Theatre.

“This is shaping up to be a very special show, and we are so lucky to have a wealth of talented members involved in our group,” says Sophie Trundle, PRO of Newbridge Musical Theatre.

“Many members of our cast and crew have received national recognition for their singing and acting abilities, not to mention the technical work behind the scenes.

“Many consider West Side Story to be the greatest musical ever written, and for good reason, thanks to its timeless story of star-crossed lovers and a score filled with beloved songs like Maria, Tonight, America, and Somewhere.

It combines breath-taking choreography, spectacular singing and a heart-wrenching love story to create a beautiful and deeply moving experience for audiences,” says the production’s director, Cian O’Dowd.

“With a tale that centres on a love that endures, and is shaped by adversity, it is a poignant and captivating show that remains as vital and relevant as when it first hit the Broadway stage, almost 70 years ago”.

Tickets for this production are online at tickets.newbridgemusicaltheatre.com at €23 for adults, €13 for children under 12, with a €2 per ticket booking fee.
