Shooting Stars Stage School presents -Oliver with a Twist

ATHY stage school Shooting Stars Stage School put on a fantastic production of “Oliver with a Twist”, with four shows over three nights from April 24 to 26 at Ardscoil na Tríonóide.

This musical adaptation of the world-famous ‘Oliver!’ brings two characters from separate worlds and who share similar circumstances together.

In the Work House, where the story begins, the worlds of Oliver and Annie come together in song, with the adored classics from both musicals sharing the same stage.

Isobel Brady from Shooting Stars School said: “It’s an amalgamation of the two stories. It helped to fit in and facilitate our juniors.”

With all 130 children involved in the production, the school had been preparing for the show since January of this year.

The hard work certainly paid off with four wonderful shows split between two talented Oliver Twist’s.

“It was brilliant, there was a great turnout,” said Isobel.

“We always get great support from the town, parents and families. It’s great for the kids to see a good audience.”

But that’s not all for Shooting Stars Stage School as 21 lucky students are gearing up for a trip to Disneyland Paris, where they will perform at the park on June 20.

The group that is heading off are aged between 10 and 18 years old, and will be performing a musical medley of Disney songs, including favourites from ‘The Greatest Showman’, ‘Teen Beach Movie’, and ‘High School Musical’.

All are looking forward to the trip and have begun rehearsing last week for the big day.

The stage school is currently planning a fundraising table quiz to cover transport costs for the trip, with the date to be confirmed in the coming weeks.
