There was a very special performance by the newly-formed Grúpa Ceoil Crom Abú, who recently won silver in the Kildare County Fleadh under 12 category.

Damien McGuinness, native of Dromore West, Co Sligo, who teaches accordion with Athy Comhaltas, then talked to the children, describing his own experiences of learning music as a child and winning All-Ireland medals with céilí bands.

He gave some kind advice to the young musicians of Athy Comhaltas to help them as they progress on their musical journeys.

Susan Laverty generously came along and took lots of beautiful photographs on the evening.
