Athy piano students nominated for prestigious award

TWO young Athy musicians from Melody & Keys Academy of Music, Athy, have struck a high note after being nominated for the Royal Irish Academy of Music Student Spotlight Award in their last piano exams.
Myles Brennan and Hannah McGovern, both students at the academy, earned first-place awards in their respective exams, showing exceptional talent and dedication to their instrument. The award is a nomination, made by the examiner on the day of the exam, that aims to recognise the most aspiring pianists. Over 45,000 students take their Royal Irish Academy of Music exams each year, and approximately 100 students will get nominated for this award.
“This is an incredible achievement for Myles and Hannah,” said academy owner Sorcha Bradshaw. “Their hard work, discipline, and passion for music truly shone through in their performances on the exam day. I couldn’t be prouder of the both of them.”

by Cuthbert Harris.Founded in 2019, Melody & Keys Academy of Music has developed a reputation for nurturing young talent. Both students will now advance to the next round where they will audition to perform at the awards night which will be held at the Visual, Carlow near the end of the year.
