KILDARE Animal Foundation held its annual open day on July 13 with a great community supporting them on the day and weather that did not disappoint.
The open day is a fantastic event that takes place year on year to raise animal welfare awareness and raise much needed funds for the shelter, which covers vet bills and overall care costs for the animals that come to the shelter.

Kildare Animal Foundation Volunteer, Michelle Keenan, told Kildare Nationalist that the open day was a huge success with people stopping by from all over the country and even coming over from the UK.
She praised all the volunteers that helped on the day: “Volunteers are absolutely fundamental. We had people volunteering from Wexford and Tipperary. We have great supporters.” There were a multitude of ways to donate on the day with a great array of stalls. From plant stalls to bric-a-brac to cakes to clothes and toys. There was something there to fit every taste.

Attendees also got the chance to take part in the raffle on the day with some fun prizes on offer, and there were kids games on the day to keep the little ones occupied.
Food and drink were also available on the day with cold drinks and tasty burgers to enjoy.

The shelter run fundraising events throughout the year to keep the place ticking, such as the antiques fair and some carboot sales. So if you didn’t manage to get to this one, head on over to the other ones.

The shelter are always accepting donations for the good work they do, so if you want to help, pop in, call in or visit the website at: https://animalfoundation.ie/get-involved/donate/
