Something for everyone at Athy family fun day

Tate and Pauline Doyle
A family fun day was a wonderful way spend a beautiful day in Athy recently.
The sun shone down at Castle Park for the merry group who enjoyed community spirit at its best.
There was fun, games, food, many laughs, chats, medals, music, sports, and much more importantly the children and adults who call this area of Athy home.
There was something for everyone to enjoy and the delight on the faces of the children said it all, especially when they received their medals in our Lilywhite Olympics with Kildare Sports Partnership.
There was plenty of entertainment from the crew of festival in a van and Creative Places and local talented musicians. Slainte Healthcare were on hand to provide healthy snacks and information on all free services and programmes available in Athy.
The HSE team were also on board providing free blood pressure checks and information on national screening and cancer awareness, and plenty of information regarding measles and other vaccinations.

Happy Days community creche provided and manned a sensory play area for all the toddlers and great fun was had by all. Organisers in the Athy West Urban Community Group would like to thank Kildare County Council for the green area where the event was held and to Empowering Communities Athy, Athy Family Resource Centre, Kildare Traveller Action, The Civil Defence, and the many volunteers who all came together to make this a day to remember for one and all.
