Cold snap to continue into the weekend with frost overnight

Met Éireann is forecasting a cold weekend, which is expected to last into the new year.
It is a dry and cold evening for Saint Stephen's and quite cloudy in the west and southwest, but with clearer skies further to the north and east, in light to moderate northeasterly breezes.
Met Éireann said any frost will clear early Saturday morning to leave a dry day with widespread spells of low winter sunshine. It may, however, turn a little cloudier across eastern areas into the afternoon.
Highest temperatures of 3 to 8 degrees, coldest further west. Northeasterly breezes will be mostly light to moderate overland and fresher along eastern and southern coasts.
The national forecaster said the weather will remain settled as high pressure continues to dominate.
Sunday will be mainly dry and cloudy with further patches of drizzle possible along the southern coastal parts. Highest temperatures of 5 to 9 degrees in light to moderate easterly winds.
Monday will be mostly dry and cloudy, although some drizzle is possible near the southern and western coasts. Highest temperatures of 4 to 7 degrees in light north to northeast winds.
Tuesday will be cloudy with scattered patches of light rain or drizzle. Highest temperatures of 4 to 8 degrees in a light east to northeast wind.
High pressure looks set to remain nearby with settled weather continuing for New Year's Eve, then there is likely to be more in the way of light rain and drizzle moving in for the start of January.
