Decision reached over contentious Kildare football final
The Kilcullen team that earned the right to compete in the Kildare U16A Football Championship Final.
A decision has been reached by the Kildare LGFA to resolve what was an extremely unfortunate situation this week, with the outcome seeing a change of schedule for one of Kildare's county finals.
A victory over Celbridge meant that Kilcullen had qualified for the U16 'A' final, where they are due to face Clane. The problem arose, however, when club officials realised that the date for the decider was clashing with a planned trip to Spain by Kilcullen AFC, a team that includes ten players from the Kilcullen LGFA team.
Following lengthy discussions involving the LGFA, Kilcullen and Clane, a decision was reached which has resulted in the final being postponed.
The discussion concerning a rescheduled final will take place in two week's time at a planned County Board meeting.
