Defendant allegedly stabbed man three times, Kildare court hears
A MAN who allegedly stabbed another man three times was sent forward to appear before Naas Circuit Court this week.
Kamil Wolf (28) with an address at Newtown, Pilsworth, Maganey appeared in Naas District Court recently to formally receive his book of evidence from the state, and Sergeant Dave Hanrahan reminded the court of the background to this case.
“At approximately 3.30am on 9 August at his premises in Maganey the injured party was stabbed by the defendant three times with a kitchen knife,” he said.
“This is a Section 3 (Offence Against the Person Act) – assault causing harm,” he specified.
Judge Desmond Zaidan continued with the formalities of such an arraignment, firstly giving Wolf the “alibi warning” – ie. If he intends to rely on one in the trial, he must inform the prosecution within two weeks.
He then granted legal aid for defending solicitor David Powderley, and one junior barrister to assist in the Circuit Court trial.
He then confirmed there were no issues with the defendant’s “fitness to stand trial”, and noted for the record that “any further charges brought in relation to this will be added to the indictment”.
“The alibi warning will apply (to those) also,” he said, before sending Mr Wolf to appear at the next sittings of Naas Circuit Court, sitting on 3 June.
