HIGH COURT actions arising from a dispute related to access to a period house and its estate in Co Kildare have been settled.

Campaigners had claimed the gates and fencing were blocking public vehicular access to the house and grounds via a road known as Gay’s Avenue.

In their proceedings, the companies claim the committee has “wrongfully asserted” that their lands are subject to a public right of way and a public right of access

CCTV cameras were also put out of action and initial estimates put the cost of the vandalism at over €500,000.

The community group says that the public has previously “enjoyed habitual access” to Castletown House via Gay’s Avenue

It comes after over a year of stalemate

It's an issue because of the factional contretemps at the gates of this 300-year old national treasure
