Castletown House hosts free family fun day

IF, as a parent, you’re already dreaming of the return to school because your treasures are beginning to pluck at your last nerve, why not tire them out with a free family fun day at Castletown House this Thursday (14 August).
Castletown Estate will be bustling with exciting activities on the day, with free admission, and events running from 11.30am until 3.30pm.
Themed entertainers will keep the children occupied, from wonderful face and arm painting to mystical magic shows to party games and bubble discos.
For book lovers, come and meet Mrs. Books who is absolutely bonkers about books.
She loves books of all kinds, big books, small books, scary books, funny books, nature books, art books, she just loves books.
Don't miss this exciting opportunity to hear her read, ask questions, and celebrate the joy of books.
Join our knowledgeable tour guides on our family friendly tours of Castletown House where visitors can explore the exquisite interior that reflects power and grandeur and witness the significant collection of paintings and furnishings.
For nature lovers, biodiversity tours of the Estate, will bring visitors through the beautiful parklands, identifying native flora and fauna that are at home in Castletown Estate, or meet with the Irish Wolfhound Club of Ireland and interact with the wolfhounds of Irish Legends.
The Office of Public Works (OPW) would like to remind potential visitors that while there is no general visitor parking for Castletown House, we welcome families to walk, cycle or take public transport, bring a picnic and make it a fun day out.
Remember to respect our neighbours and don’t park in local housing estates, but also there are limited accessible parking spaces available in front of the House, which can be accessed via Lime Avenue.
The Castletown Parklands is open from Dawn till Dusk for visitors. Dogs are welcome, but must be kept on a lead, and away from the lake area.
