Naas 1-29 Celbridge 0-11 

Naas made it two wins from two outings in Round 2 of the UPMC Kildare Senior Hurling Championship when they overcame Celbridge with a brilliant second half performance that yielded 1-18 without reply. Jack Sheridan showed unbelievable quality hitting 16 points over the hour. The first half was entertaining and close as the sides shared 22 points but Naas dominated the closing 30 minutes.

Despite seven wides Celbridge were worthy to be level at the break Gerry Keegan hit seven points in that opening half,f ive coming from frees as he caused Naas problems with his running off the ball.

Nass started the brightest and after Kevin Whelan and Paul Hogan swapped points Naas pushed three ahead courtesy of points from Jack Sheridan, Fionn Maher and Daire Guerin. Gerry Keegan, had missed two earlier frees but he reduced the gap to two.J ack Sheridan quickly added his second He missed a glorious goal chance on 16 when his goal bound effort was expertly saved by Fiachra O Muineachain.

Celbridge got on top and they quickly added four in a row to move ahead for the first time. Fionn Maher and Sheridan from a free pointed either side of another Gerry Keegan free to keep the sides level. The sides shared eight points before the break to leave it 0-11 each. The introduction of Cian Boran certainly helped to ignite Naas before the break.

Whatever Tom Mullally said at half time it had the desired effect as Naas returned a different team. They hit eight points without reply in a twelve minute spell. Celbridge had no answer to their pace and power and shot over points from all angles.

Cathal Dowling's half time introduction gave Naas extra bite in attack and he set up Simon Leacy for the games only goal on 49.

With  Sheridan adding 12 second half points, the best with four minutes left when he rode three Celbridge tackles before firing over from 50 metres. Kevin Aherne Cian Boran and Cathal Dowling all added second half points but in fairness the game was over as a contest long before the full time whistle.
