Newbridge Town FC host UCC AFC at Station Road this Saturday, 3 October, with kick-off at 5pm, as the club continues its inaugural FAI National League campaign.
The fixture is the clubs’ first meeting in the competition. Newbridge will be looking to respond to last weekend’s defeat away to Villa FC and build on their previous home performance, when a 2–2 draw with Killarney Celtic secured their first National League point.
Head coach Martin Russell expects a challenging encounter against the Cork side.
“UCC have a strong history of competing at high levels, whether as a force in the Munster League or in colleges football,” Russell said.
In his match programme notes, Russell highlights the demands of the new competition and the work required to improve, while thanking supporters for backing the club at the beginning of its National League journey.
Saturday’s match also provides an opportunity to highlight Newbridge Town’s “Our Community. On Our Jersey.” initiative. Newbridge Family Resource Centre is its first community partner, with the organisation’s logo carried on the team’s jerseys throughout the National League season. The annual initiative will recognise a community organisation each year.
For younger supporters, the first 50 children wearing a Newbridge Town jersey or zip top can enjoy a free ice cream from Mr Whizz, while stocks last. Pulled and Loaded will provide food at the ground, and the clubhouse bar will be open before, during and after the match.
