Appeal for Kildare man who underwent lifesaving surgery after skiing accident

Luke Stuart Mills

AT the end of July, Kildare man, Luke Stuart-Mills, was skiing in Queenstown, New Zealand when an unexpected accident left him in critical condition, requiring surgery for Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI).

Since then, his family has been with him in New Zealand and are calling for help from the community via online fundraiser to cover medical and accommodation costs.

The GoFundMe bio reads: 'Luke is a kind, funny and warm person, with an incredible love for adventure. He is an inspiring teacher and a reliable, thoughtful friend, with a community that care deeply about him all across the world. While his road to recovery will be long and challenging, we remain determined for his full recovery.'

'Any donation, no matter how small will make a huge difference to help us as we navigate the many unexpected challenges that will come with this accident. If any excess funds are not required for the immediate support and rehabilitation of Luke, they will be donated to his preferred charities once he has fully recovered.'

The GoFundMe page has already reached over €90,000, nearly reaching its €120,000 goal, so if you have a few euros to spare you can send them on for Luke’s rehabilitation.
