Athy plays host to US Senator Bernie Sanders and Activist Jane O’Meara Sanders with a very special launch in the Made of Athy series.
The launch will take place this Sunday May 25, at St Michael’s Cemetery at 4pm. The day will kick off at Athy Library at 2pm, where people can expect speeches, music and a big welcome to the Sanders’ in Athy style. Attendees will then be invited to head down to St Michael’s Cemetery where the unveiling of the Made of Athy plaque will occur.
Afterwards Bernie and Jane will reportedly be hitting some famous local Athy hostelries.
Excited about the launch and the very special visitors, cathaoirleach of Athy Municipal District Aoife Breslin shared the news with elected representatives at their Monday meeting, inviting them along.
“There will be a crowd attracted to this,” she said. “People coming from out of the county.”
For this reason, she advised people to book tickets to the event online at Eventbrite in order to guarantee a spot at this once-in-a-lifetime event.
Tickets are expected to go live later this week, so if you’re interested, keep an eye on Eventbrite.
