Council gives permission for boutique hotel in Naas

The Forge Inn, Naas

KILDARE County Council has given The Forge Inn pub the green light to expand its property into a boutique hotel.

The proposed changes relate to planning permission previously granted and include the transformation of the first and second floors of the building behind the newly opened Naas pub.

The proposal seeks to repurpose the space to accommodate eight boutique-style bedroom suites across the first and second floors, in a space that had previously been permitted for use as a public bar and staff areas.

According to the application, the new accommodation will serve as an “ancillary facility” to the existing Forge Inn, creating a boutique hotel offering in the heart of Naas town centre.

The decision approves alterations to earlier planning permission for the structure to the rear of The Forge Inn on 46 South Main Street.

The permission is subject to 16 conditions, covering areas such as development contributions, waste management, construction hours, noise control, and infrastructure requirements.

Notably, no signage or advertising for the boutique hotel may be installed without further planning approval, and the development must include provisions such as EV charging and bicycle parking before opening.
