Craddockstown Golf Club are hosting an exciting Open Week from Friday, June 26th, to Sunday, July 5th, at their glorious course on the Blessington Road in Naas.

The club is led by their ladies captain, Fiona Feeney, and her vice captain, Maureen O’Keane, along with men’s captain John Smith, and his vice captain, Gary Higgins.

Speaking to The Kildare Nationalist, ladies captain Fiona Feeney detailed the rise of the Golf Club since its establishment in 1991.

“I’ve been a member of Craddockstown Golf Club for the last 15 years. The course is 144 picturesque acres and it is constantly being developed; we're also a members-owned club.

“We have the fabulous cycle lane now that leads right up to the club; and our course is well known for offering a challenging yet enjoyable experience for golfers. The ladies’ section has grown to over 180 ladies in the club, the majority being locals.

“The important thing here really is golfers of all ability. We have a fabulous Get Into Golf program, where we bring in people who would have no kind of history with golf. It’s like a taster; we established that a number of years ago and it plays a vital role in building our membership in Craddockstown - we’ve over 900 members and a thriving junior section.

“We have an absolutely amazing green-keeping staff, headed up by a local man here from Eadestown, Tom Carew. And himself and his team have the course in an amazing condition.

“It is such a welcoming, hospitable place to join. You’re greeted initially by an excellent pro who’s been with us over nine years, Glenn Robinson, and his assistant pro, Liam Whelan. They are front of house for us; they meet and greet people who are members and visitors alike.”

Looking ahead to the Open Week, Ms Feeney told us: “There’s real excitement around the club as we prepare to get for Open Week. The course is looking fantastic. It starts on Friday, June 26th, and it starts with a bang with the Kildare Inter-Business Day. It’s a shotgun start with 25 plus teams. We’re supported from a lot of small and bigger businesses throughout Naas and the surrounding Kildare areas. That is a big, a big start.”
