Four accused of Newbridge mugging sent for trial

FOUR people allegedly responsible for a street mugging in Newbridge will now face trial in the circuit court.
Appearing in Athy District Court were Mark Whyte (28), Dara Park, Newbridge; Shauna Lawlor (32) Rosconnell Square, Newbridge; James Rowan (45) Flinter’s Close, Athy and Danielle Murphy (32), The Harbour, Nelson Street, Athy.
All four are charged under Section 14 of the
– using force or fear during the course of a robbery – in the early hours of 21 January on Station Road in Newbridge, where it is alleged they attacked a male victim, taking his wallet, phone, driving licence, bank card and car keys.“The injured party was attacked by all four, he was beaten around the head and had injuries to his head and torso, but I don’t have the full details of those injuries here with me,” said Sgt Dave Hanrahan.
“An alleged mugging?” asked Judge Desmond Zaidan.
“Yes, judge”. All four will appear in Naas Circuit Court.
