ATHY Town Promoters have announced that Frank Taaffe will serve as Grand Marshal for the 2026 St Patrick’s Day Parade.

The annual St Patrick’s Day Parade is one of the town’s most anticipated events, drawing large crowds each year to celebrate community pride. The Grand Marshal title is extended to the town’s most beloved figures, and this year’s title goes to a man who is well-respected in the town of Athy.

Mr Taaffe is known by many for his work as a solicitor, public representative, activist, community organiser, historian and long-standing columnist in the Kildare Nationalist.

Athy Town Promoters said: “This invitation is extended in recognition of Frank’s exceptional community spirit and the profound, lasting contribution he has made to Athy over many years.

“His dedication, generosity, and unwavering commitment to the town make him a truly fitting and deserving recipient of this honour.”
