Free mattress disposal in Kildare this Sunday

KILDARE County Council is once again offering a free mattress disposal at the Silliot Hill Civic Amenity Site all day this Sunday (28 September).
In partnership with the Regional Waste Enforcement Office, the Department of Environment, Climate and Communications, and industry partners Bord na Mona Recycling, the Council will be holding a free waste mattress recycling event from 8.30am until 3pm.
This initiative aims to assist households in recycling bulky items and reducing illegal dumping across County Kildare.
Households are encouraged to take this opportunity to clear out and responsibly dispose of waste in accordance with the circular economy principles.
Before bringing items to the event, households should explore alternatives to disposal.
Persons are reminded that this opportunity if for domestic users only, and no commercial operators or charities will be allowed to use it.
All sizes of mattresses will be accepted, with a limit of six per delivery.
Divans, pillows, bed frames, foot stools, couches, armchairs will not be accepted either.
All other categories outside of this scheme can be recycled as usual at any Civic Amenity Site when normal service and opening hours resume.
