KILDARE gardaí have issued an urgent warning to the public following a rise in scam phone calls from fraudsters posing as representatives of online banking service Revolut.

Officers in the Kildare/Carlow Division of An Garda Síochána say members of the public are being targeted by criminals who claim there is suspicious activity on victims’ accounts in a bid to steal money and sensitive information.

According to gardaí, the scam typically begins with a phone call, often from a spoofed number designed to appear legitimate. The caller then warns of alleged fraudulent transactions and pressures the victim into sharing personal details, verification codes, or transferring funds to a “safe account”.

Authorities stressed that these are scam calls and that legitimate financial institutions will never ask customers for full PINs or passwords, request one-time verification codes, or instruct them to move money to another account for security reasons.

Members of the public who receive such calls are advised to hang up immediately, avoid sharing any personal or banking information, and contact Revolut directly through its official app. Gardaí also urge victims to report incidents to their local Garda station.

Anyone who has already provided information or transferred money should contact their bank immediately.

Gardaí are encouraging people to share the warning widely, particularly with elderly or vulnerable relatives who may be more susceptible to scams.
