Gardaí launch new search for missing women near Kildare/Wicklow border
Deidre Jacob was last seen outside her home in Newbridge in 1998
GARDAÍ have again re-opened the investigation into the 30-year-old disappearance and murders of Jo Jo Dullard and Deirdre Jacob, and have begun a search operation on open ground at a location on the Kildare/Wicklow border (15 June).
Gardaí were assisted by the Defence Forces last week, under ‘Aid to Civil Power’ arrangements in completing a technical ground survey of an area in Co Wicklow, near the Kildare border.
This area of land will now be searched and subject to excavation and forensic examinations over the coming days.
Deirdre Jacob was from Newbridge, and was last seen just outside the front gates of her home on the Dublin Road in July 1998.
Jo Jo (Joanne) Dullard was from Callan, Co Kilkenny, and was last seen in Moone Co Kildare hitch-hiking her way home in November 1995.
The search operation is being led by the Serious Crime Review Team, the Garda National Bureau of Criminal Investigation in conjunction with Gardaí from the Kildare/Carlow Division, and is supported by the Garda National Technical Bureau and the Wicklow Garda Division.
An Garda Síochána has been and continues to keep the families of Jo Jo Dullard and Deirdre Jacob updated in relation to these investigations and they have been fully appraised of these developments.
An Garda Síochána appeals to anyone with any information, no matter how small or insignificant you might believe it to be, to contact Kildare Garda station on 045 527 730 or any garda station.
