A homecoming will be held in Castledermot this evening (Tuesday) at 7pm at Teach Diarmada.
“Fly the flags and cheer him home. Let's show him how proud we are of him,” urged Radio Castledermot, which will be live on air from 7pm.
Supporters across Castledermot and further afield were cheering him on as he raced around the Stade de France in Paris this morning.
Aaron finished the race in seventh position, with a result of 4:02.71.
Gold was claimed by Great Britain’s Ben Sandilands, silver by Portuguese athlete Sandro Baessa, and bronze by Michael Brannigan from the USA.
Aaron came through the Athletics Ireland Juvenile system to Senior, having won 10 All Ireland National titles at Juvenile level.
He made his International debut at the 2023 Para Athletics World Championships in Paris where he ran in his preferred event the 1500m (T20). He is a member of St Laurance O’ Toole’s Athletic Club.
Family, friends and well-wishers packed out Teach Diarmada in Castledermot on Tuesday 27 August to wish Aaron the best of luck before he headed off for the French capital.
Well done Aaron – you’ve done your country proud!
