HSE accused up 'holding up' transfer of Athy independent living housing

St Vincent's Hospital, Athy
Progress has been made on the takeover of the independent living housing in McAuley Court, St Vincent’s Hospital, Athy.
At a recent council meeting, cllr Brian Dooley tabled a motion requesting an update on the progress of the council’s takeover.
In response, the Housing Department confirmed that discussions surrounding the transfer are now at an advanced stage. According to the council, the draft terms of agreement have been "substantially agreed."
Once the remaining details are finalised, the process is expected to progress to the legal stage, bringing the council one step closer to assuming responsibility for the facility.
“I look forward to seeing that progress forward," said cllr Dooley.
“I was not happy about how the HSE went about their business. This has been held up by legalities for too long.”
Seconding the motion, Cathaoirleach Aoife Breslin said: “It was put on the long finger for so long by the HSE. No one was making decisions. The way they (the residents) were treated by the HSE was not right.”
