Keys 'imminent' at new Kildare social housing
The Ambassador Place estate
KEYS for the first tenants at new social housing in Kildare are imminent according to a local representative.
Kildare County Council recently official opened 33 social housing units at Ambassador Place in Kill.
Ambassador Place had been the subject of the story in March by the where it was revealed there small section of water connection was holding up the housing.
Cllr Fintan Brett – who had revealed the water deficit in the first place – confirmed recently that the water connection was carried out in April before the official opening took place.
“I expect the first tenants are imminent, and keys will be handed over very shortly,” he added.
The new homes had lain empty since completion in December, all for a lack of water, but according to an Uisce Eireann spokesperson, the delay was with the developer for not having completed a quality assurance certification.
The development was opened by Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science, James Lawless TD, in the presence of the cathaoirleach of Kildare County Council, Carmel Kelly.
The scheme provides a mix of one, two and three-bedroom houses, together with one and two-bedroom apartments.
A number of homes are age-friendly and universally designed at ground-floor level to support accessibility and independent living.
The project was delivered by Kildare County Council in partnership with Van Dijk Architects, Hayes Higgins Partnership, Townmore Construction and other specialist design and engineering teams.
