Kildare community rallies to locate alleged hit & run car

Gardaí are interested in this vehicle
GARDAÍ are appealing for witnesses following a serious hit and run which left a woman out for a morning jog seriously injured.
KFM reported on Tuesday morning that a car believed to have been involved in the incident had been located.
The Garda Press Office would not confirm this and said the investigation was still ongoing and the appeal for information was live.
At approximately 11.15am on Sunday 2 February, gardaí and emergency services responded to a single-vehicle hit-and-run collision on the R415 in Derrymullen, Allenwood.
The runner, aged in her 40s, was struck by a vehicle, believed to be a Mazda 6, which failed to remain at the scene. The female was removed by ambulance to hospital with serious non-life threatening injuries.
“There were some concerns early on, but she’s fine,” said a local.
“The community is actively trying to find the driver, because somebody needs to put him off the road."
”The car is pretty distinctive with twin exhausts, and we should find it … but thank God, the main thing is she will recover."
The woman and her family have received great local support and well wishes since the horrific incident.
Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area at the time are asked to make this footage available to investigating gardaí.
Anyone with any information is asked to contact Naas Garda Station on 045 884 300, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.
