The fourth annual Booleigh folk festival brought in a total of 1100 people over the weekend to dance the night away to quality Irish music and some rebel tunes to get the crowd going from some of Ireland’s top folk musicians.

With a star studded line up, including The Druids, Atlanders, Dreams of Freedom, the Dockland Collective and Celtic Heritage, crowds gathered at Booleigh Sports Bar and Steakhouse for an unforgettable weekend.

Event organiser and pub owner, Murt Walsh, said about the festival: “It’s very close to my heart.”
Murt told the Kildare Nationalist that all walks of life are welcome to the pub’s events, including the furry kind.

“We’re dog friendly as well,” he said, as he recounted the event’s sound engineer who had help over the weekend from his pooch who helped spread the joy to attendees. Nothing warms the heart more than petting a dog after a pint!
“We started this four years ago and it just went from there. It’s always a good weekend – very laid back.”

A hotspot of activity, the Booleigh Sports Bar and Steakhouse is also home to other fantastic events such as the Biker’s festival to holistic fair, Lovestock, promoting wellbeing both mental and physical with an array of healers and fortune tellers on the day.

There is also the upcoming Ska festival which brings in an array of different folks to enjoy good music with live bands and DJs, and great food with a BBQ for all in attendance.

Bands over the weekend of 4-6 July include The Gangsters, The Scalps, The Mad Banners Band and The Jager Bombs, as well as a fantastic line up of DJ’s.
Tickets are priced at €60 for the full weekend, including a good feed of BBQ food, and €30 for a day ticket.
