Gardai, the Fire Service, paramedics and Civil Defence will conduct a Guard of Honour at the 9/11 memorial in Kildare’s Donadea Forest Park tomorrow (Saturday) at 2pm.
They will be supported by the Dublin Fire Brigade Pipe Band.
There will be a wreath-laying ceremony at the memorial of the late Sean Tallon, followed by prayers and music.
The 9/11 memorial at Donadea is a scaled replica of the Twin Towers carved in limestone.
Sean Tallon, a Donadea-born firefighter who was among the first NY firefighters on the scene on 9/11, lost his life in the 2001 terrorist attack.
Sean first served in the United States Marine Corps and afterwards joined the New York Fire Department. Sean along with his Ladder crew were the first firefighters to enter Tower 1. Tragically, none survived.
This event is open to the public and all are welcome.
