Kildare gardaí stop driver with seven driving disqualifications

On Monday (25 September) members of the Naas Roads Policing Unit (RPU) stopped a motorist in the town for not wearing a seatbelt.
While this offence on its own would only merit a fixed penalty notice (FPN) of €120, with three penalty points added to your licence, on further investigation it became apparent to the Gardaí that this man had a total of seven driving disqualifications, from a number of different jurisdictions.
They subsequently discovered, unsurprisingly, the man in question also had an outstanding bench warrant against his name.
At this point Gardaí are not saying where in Naas the man was stopped, he was “swiftly arrested” and his vehicle immediately impounded.
The Gardaí have also said the individual arrested was brought straight to court for evidence of arrest, charge and caution, and though they did not specify which one, it is most likely he was brought to the District Court in Blanchardstown.
