KILDARE County Council seems to be taking even more concern with its great outdoors, having recently launched plans on litter and local sports, and asking members of the Kildare public to make their submissions thereon.

The draft Litter Management Plan 2025-2027 is now open for public consultation, and on this you have until 9 July to have your voice heard “and to help make a difference”.

The plan aims to address the impact of litter across the county, and it will outline the activities and resources required to achieve a cleaner, greener Kildare over the next three years.

You can also view the draft plan at Athy, Celbridge, Kildare, Leixlip, Maynooth, Naas and Newbridge libraries.

The council has also launched a consultation exercise to support the development of a new Outdoor Recreation Plan and a new Local Sports Plan for the county.

This plan aims to guide the management and development of sports and outdoor recreation while increasing participation over the course of the next five years.

The input of individuals, organisations, clubs and groups from across Kildare is vital for the development of these two strategic plans.

The online survey for sports and recreation is open to all Kildare residents to share their views on sport or outdoor recreation opportunities, including those who do not currently engage in physical activity and those who face barriers to doing so.

The survey can be accessed until 27 June using the link below and takes approximately 10 minutes to complete: https://forms.office.com/e/DthKMaSPAD For the Litter Plan you can submit your feedback through our online consultation portal at https://consult.kildarecoco.ie/ or in writing to the Environment Section, Kildare County Council, Áras Chill Dara, Devoy Park, Naas.

The closing date for receipt of submissions is Wednesday, 9 July, 2025 at 5pm.

Every submission counts and will be carefully considered before the plan is finalised.
