FOUR men arrested in the housing estate of an alleged feud rival while in possession of 19 petrol bombs were all sent for trial in the circuit court last week.

Trevor Creaven (50) of Trinity Crescent, Derrinturn, Jack Kavanagh (21), The Willows, Castlefen, Sallins, Eamon Kelly (24), Patrician Avenue, Naas, and Aaron McManus (21), Grand Canal Wood, Allenwood all appeared in Naas District Court before Judge Desmond Zaidan.

Sergeant Dave Hanrahan explained how the four were involved in an alleged feud with an individual in the Ashgrove Estate in Derrinturn, and it was in that location that the four were intercepted on 2 September 2024. “The four were in a vehicle with 19 petrol bombs,” alleged Sgt Hanrahan.

As the judge checked off their identities, he turned to the eldest, and said: “Trevor?”

“Yes, judge. Ye know me,” smiled Mr Creaven.

After the formal presentation of the four books of evidence, the judge gave them an alibi warning, namely, if they are to rely on one in their trial, they have just 14 days in which that have to tell the gardaí.

“That’s a really grumpy ‘yes’,” noted the judge as the defendants grudgingly acknowledged the warning.

The judge remanded them on that continuing bail – under the same terms and conditions – to the present sittings of Naas Circuit Court across the hall, which began on 7 October.

He granted legal aid for all four, and allowed this to extend to cover a barrister each for their trial.
