TWO Kildare schools competed at this year’s Irish Angus Schools Competition at Croke Park on Friday 7 March.
Those who exhibited were Kate Walshe and Mia Heavy from Ardscoil Rath Imoghain in Rathangan with their project on socially-sustainable farming, and Aaron Finneran, James Maher and David Murphy from Salesian College in Celbridge with their project on sustainable grassland management for beef production.
The competition, supported by ABP and Kepak, challenges students to rear five Irish Angus calves and learn about the care and attention required to produce quality beef for consumers.
Five out of the 46 exhibiting schools that best demonstrate an understanding of the project along with innovative ideas will be presented with Irish Angus calves at the National Ploughing Championships in September 2025.
We wish our Kildare entries the best of luck!
