KILDARE is expected to have a scorcher this weekend, with Met Éireann issuing a Yellow Weather Alert for high temperatures across the county.
The warning comes into effect from 12pm today and will remain in place until 6am on Sunday.
Temperatures are expected to soar to at least 27°C during the day, with nighttime lows of around 15°C. The fine spell marks one of the hottest weekends of the year so far.
Minister for Agriculture, Martin Heydon TD took to social media, warning people to take great care during the good weather.
He urged the public to stay well hydrated, wear sunscreen and light, breathable clothing, avoid strenuous activity during peak heat hours, take care around water, never leave children or pets in parked cars, refrain from activities that could spark wildfires, particularly in areas with dry vegetation in the hills and countryside.
Locals and visitors alike are encouraged to enjoy the glorious weather responsibly.
“Enjoy the coming days,” concluded Minister Heydon.
