Kildare social housing development to commence construction this year

A KEY housing project in Rathangan is moving forward, with significant progress reported on the Sophia housing development at St John’s Convent.
Cllr Brian O’Loughlin recently sought an update on the project which involves around two dozen apartments from the council. In response, the Housing Department confirmed that the proposal for the social housing development was submitted for Stage 3 approval to the Department of Housing on 6 February 2025.
The next steps in the process will see the contract tender launched in the second quarter of the year, followed by the commencement of construction before the end of 2025.
Happy with the response, cllr O’Loughlin called this “good news.” Further updates on the project will be provided as the development progresses.
