Kildare towns get €80k for projects

Cllr Kevin Duffy and Minister Martin Heydon.

TWO Kildare towns will share a windfall of almost €80,000 to help kick-start the regeneration of their centres.

Minister Martin Heydon has welcomed confirmation that Clane and Monasterevin are set to benefit under the latest round of funding for Town Centre First Projects announced on Friday (23 August).

Ths money will support pre-development works for projects and support costs including detailed design, planning, procurement, professional fees, assessments and other development costs.

“I am delighted to receive confirmation from my colleague the Minister for Rural and Community Development, Heather Humphreys TD, that Clane will receive €45,000 and Monasterevin €34,355 towards assisting Kildare County Council in creating a series of significant, well-developed projects in these two towns,” said Minister Heydon.

“The €34,355 allocated to Monasterevin will contribute towards a redevelopment of space in the town which is currently car dominated, and providing an area with increased cultural and commercial offering.

“The funding of €45,000 announced for Clane will allow for consultants to prepare appropriate pre-development plans. This has already seen Kildare Town benefit from €150,000 and Calverstown from €198,000.”
