A leading homebuilder in Ireland has chosen a Kildare kids home to be one of its two chosen charity partners for 2026.

Glenveagh Homes has announced Barretstown children's charity and Women’s Aid as its two charitys, and these were chosen by the staff.

Barretstown, just about two kilometres north of Ballymore Eustace, offers free, specially designed camps and programmes for children and their families living with childhood cancer or other serious illness, supported by 24-hour on site medical and nursing care.

It is recognised as a centre of excellence in childhood cancer care, and since it first opened its gates in 1994 it has provided much needed therapeutic camps to over 125,000 Barretstown campers.

An impressive 96 per cent of the €10m required annually to keep Barretstown afloat comes from charitable donations.

Women’s Aid is a national organisation working to prevent and address the impact of domestic violence and abuse of women since 1974.

For over 50 years, the charity has supported generations of women and their children.

The need for Women’s Aid services is increasingly vital, with the charity reporting the highest level of disclosures of domestic abuse against women and children in 2024.

To support Women’s Aid and Barretstown in the coming year, Glenveagh has earmarked several events to drive awareness and fundraising for its chosen charities.

For Barretstown, Glenveagh will look to support with ‘Helping Hands’ days where the team will maintain and improve facilities there.
