Progress on Naas junction redesign

Murtagh's Corner, Naas

A DESIGN for proposed road improvement works at Murtagh’s corner, Naas is being finalised to include additional works along Loch Buí.

This emerged at a recent meeting of Naas Municipal District. Mayor Bill Clear asked Kildare County Council to provide an update on the proposed works, including the current status of the project, progress to date, timelines for the remaining stages, and the expected start and finish dates for construction.

Acting senior engineer Daragh Conlan responded that the design for the Murtagh’s corner road improvement scheme is being finalised and has been expanded to include additional works along Loch Bui. The council has applied for funding under the Town and Cities Regeneration Investment Fund and is awaiting a decision on that application.

Subject to funding, it is expected that the project will go to tender before the end of the year, with construction works planned to begin in 2027.
