A REQUEST that a temporary repair be made to a section of collapsed road between Monasterevin and Kildare was made by cllr Kevin Duffy at the recent meeting of the Kildare-Newbridge Municipal District. He said it should be done pending a full repair of the stretch with departmental funding.
The councillor was responding to a report on his motion, in which officials agreed to assess the stretch between Junction 14 and Kildare for inclusion in the municipal district's 2026 funding application.
He described one particular section where the collapse left a foot of difference in levels.
"It's not that bad if you are in a car, but if a motorbike hits it in the dark, it will be taken out," he said. "If a bit of tarmac could be used temporarily to fix the levels, it would help."
