The late Jason Hallahan

The man, named locally as Jason Hallahan (43), made a takeaway delivery of food to a premises near the canal, and while leaving, it is believed he reversed his car in the dark into the water at Grangeclare West, near the Traveller’s Rest Pub on Sunday 22 December.
Mr Hallahan, who was originally from Prosperous, and had lived in Cherrywood, Clondalkin, Dublin.

The scene was preserved on Monday for examination by forensic collision investigators and the Garda Water Unit, and access along the canal at this location had been restricted. Several locals heard the splash as the car went into the water, but to date there has been no eyewitnesses to the tragedy.
