Kildare County Council issued 47 planning enforcement warning letters in February.

Such letters inform the person concerned that the council is aware that they may be carrying out a development without or contrary to planning permission.

There were no planning cases referred to solicitors during the month.

14 new planning enforcement consultations – the process by which the council investigates potential breaches of planning law – were opened over the course of the month.

Four cases were closed in February.

Eight enforcement notices were served according to the monthly statistics. Such notices are the normal course of action taken by the council when they have established that an unauthorised development is taking place.

Across January and February, 126 warning letters were served, a significant increase on the 56 served in the same time period last year.

Across the first two months of this year there were 30 new consultations opened, a decrease of more than half from the 62 opened in January and February 2025.

16 cases were closed across January and February 2026, which represents a large decrease on the 108 from the same period last year.

Enforcement notices went up, with 19 in the first two months of this year and seven in the first two months of 2025.
