Tributes paid to well-known Kildare businessman following passing

A well-known businessman and racehorse owner has passed away.
Dermot Cox of Rosetown Stud, Athgarvan, Newbridge died on Tuesday in the Blackrock Clinic.
Mr Cox owned many leading National Hunt Horses and had a successful cash and carry business in Newbridge, Cox’s Cash & Carry, which was sold in 2022.
Dermot was the loving husband of the late Ann and much-loved father of David, Louise, Aoife & Patrick, daughters-in-law Tamso & Vicky, son-in-law Kevin, treasured grandfather of Dermot, India, Isla, Sarah, Patrick, Louis & Tiger and extended family.
Ceann Comhairle Sean O’Fearghail was one of many to offer condolences on RIP.ie.
“Dermot Cox was a remarkable businessman, wise, astute and far-sighted. He was also an absolute gentleman and a thoroughly good and kind person.”
Mr Cox’s will repose at his residence on Friday from 2-6pm. Funeral on Saturday at St Conleth’s, Newbridge at 11am. Burial afterwards in St Conleth’s Cemetery.
