Two dogs attack sisters near Kildare/Wicklow border

A CASE involving two Belgian Shepherd dogs that attacked young girls has been adjourned to allow for a probation report.
Carlow District Court heard last week that on 8 June 2024, the dogs attacked two young girls at Dunlavin, Co Wicklow.
The court was told that the dogs, belonging to a young man named Florin Veres, who has no previous convictions, were found outside with no leash or restraint of any kind, according to a report from Garda Pender.
Evidence was given that the dogs “attacked” a 13-year-old girl and were “barking and snapping” at the girl and her sister.
A neighbour who witnessed the incident intervened. During the incident, one dog bit the father of the children, who subsequently required a tetanus injection.
The court heard that the mother of the dogs’ owner returned to the house following the incident.
Mr Veres’s solicitor John O’Sullivan, informed Judge Geraldine Carthy that the dogs have since been destroyed.
The judge ordered a probation report in relation to the case and adjourned the hearing until May.
