A woman parked in a disabled bay in Kildare said she was awaiting her son who was in court across the road.

Naas community gardaí reported the incident at the courthouse on Wednesday.

They found a car in the disabled parking bay across the road from the courthouse without a disabled parking permit.

The designated bay in Naas is frequently abused by motorists.

An Garda Siochana Kildare Facebook page said: ‘When asked by gardaí, the driver said she didn't have a permit and was waiting for her son, who was in court. During this interaction, a car with a disabled bay permit pulled up but couldn't park in the bay.

‘A €150 fine was issued to the driver and driver directed to leave.’

Gardaí remind people that those who misuse disabled bays are causing hardship for those with limited mobility.
