A JUDGE had to tell a man seeking visitation rights to his child to “control your temper” as he refused his interim application, but adjourned a decision until May.
The ex-partner was also in Athy District Court behind closed doors during a family law hearing opposing his efforts and Judge Desmond Zaidan asked her why.
“He smashes up his parents house, and last week he told me that if it doesn’t go his way my boyfriend should have a bullet in the chamber of his gun for his next visit,” she said.
“My son has seen his father beat people up, and he has been violent in front of him, and he’s always on drink and drugs,” she alleged, which prompted the father to raise his voice despite having a solicitor, and forcing the judge to issue his temper warning.
“My client hasn’t seen his son since August last year,” said solicitor Jackie McManus. "And we can provide clean urinalysis."
Accepting this, the judge adjourned a final ruling until 12 May to allow his defence team provide such evidence.
