Newbridge hosts trad talents

Liz Kane, Macdara Ó Faoláin, Yvonne Kane, and Derek Hickey
The Riverbank Arts Centre in Newbridge, in collaboration with Music Network, has announced a concert featuring renowned traditional Irish musicians Derek Hickey, The Kane Sisters, and Macdara Ó Faoláin.
The audience can look forward to an exceptional live show this Valentine’s day 14 February with a performance by some of Ireland’s finest traditional musicians.
Derek Hickey, from Adare, Limerick, is celebrated as one of Ireland's leading master accordion players. He is also a button accordion tutor at the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance, University of Limerick.
Liz and Yvonne Kane, known as The Kane Sisters, are accomplished fiddle players from Letterfrack, Galway. Their global performances include Carnegie Hall in New York and the Royal Albert Hall in London, and they’ve collaborated with iconic artists like The Chieftains, Steve Earle, and Sharon Shannon.
Macdara Ó Faoláin, a bouzouki player from An Rinn, Waterford, is admired for his innovative approach to Irish music. A sought-after accompanist, Macdara regularly collaborates with musicians such as Victoria Adiiye and Cormac McCarthy.
This event is part of a nationwide tour showcasing these award-winning artists, who each received recognition at the 2024 TG4 Gradam Ceoil, with Derek Hickey receiving an award for Musician of the Year, The Kane Sisters receiving an award for Group of the Year, and Macdara Ó Faoláin receiving an award for Young Musician of the Year.
