THE Athy Lions Club has announced a series of community initiatives and supports across Athy, including a life-saving emergency information scheme, local charity donations and a scholarship award for a secondary school student.
The club is continuing to promote its 'Message in a Bottle' initiative, a free scheme designed to help emergency services quickly access vital medical information during emergencies. Residents can store important medical details inside a specially marked container kept in their fridge, allowing paramedics and first responders to find critical information when time matters most.

Message in a Bottle containers are available from the Athy Lions Club bookshop, A&A Pharmacy on Duke Street and McCabes Pharmacy on Leinster Street.
Meanwhile, the club has announced that Amy Keogh has been awarded the Athy Lions Club Gaeltacht Scholarship for 2026. Amy, a fifth-year student at Athy College, was praised as a dedicated Gaeilgeoir and a deserving recipient of the award.

The Lions Club has also continued its support for local charities and community groups. Recently, members presented Ber McEvoy with a cheque in support of the work carried out by the Athy branch of the Society of St Vincent de Paul.
Funds raised through the club’s annual Food Appeal collection are shared between the Society of St Vincent de Paul, the Women’s Integrated Network and the Athy Community Family Resource Centre.
In addition, the club provided funding to Athy Community First Responders to replace batteries and pads on five AEDs located throughout the Athy area.
The club is also preparing for an upcoming fundraising concert, 'A Night at the Movies – Orchestral Edition', which will take place on Sunday 14 June at 5pm in the Dreamland Ballroom. The event will feature the County Kildare Orchestra, with tickets available through Eventbrite.
